Bright lustrous crystallized galena coming off matrix. In great condition all around. The Gyudyurska Mine, located near Erma Reka in the Zlatograd Municipality of Smolyan Province, Bulgaria, is situated within the southern part of the metallogenically rich Madan Ore Field in the Rhodope Mountains. Geologically, the region is characterized by complex metamorphic basement rocks cut by Tertiary-age magmatic intrusions, hosting hydrothermal vein and metasomatic replacement ore bodies. Mineralization formed as metal-bearing hydrothermal solutions reacted with host carbonates and structural fractures, depositing concentrated economic layers of lead and zinc. Modern industrial exploitation expanded significantly during the twentieth century to power regional metallurgy, and the underground workings have since become celebrated by mineral collectors worldwide for producing fine crystal specimens of galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, quartz, and calcite.
