A beautiful spray of colorless scolecite crystals, this hosting light green crystals of fluorapophyllite to 3.0 cm in size. Typical of these slight damage present, this still in good condition.The Nashik district in Maharashtra, India, is situated within the Deccan Traps, a vast continental flood basalt province formed by volcanic activity approximately 65 million years ago. As massive layers of basaltic lava cooled and solidified, trapped gases formed vesicles and cavities within the rock mass. Over subsequent epochs, low-temperature hydrothermal solutions circulated through these open spaces, depositing secondary minerals such as zeolites and silica variations. While the region has deep historical roots as an ancient religious and trade center along the Godavari River, its modern geological significance is tied to commercial quarrying operations. Excavations in the basalt flows have frequently exposed vugs and fissures containing diverse mineral assemblages, cementing the area's role in the broader mineralogy of the Deccan Plateau.
