attractive glassy light blue gemmy crystals of beryl with muscovite. This is the variety of the species often called aquamarine. Classic locality for this material. In good condition.Chumar Bakhoor is a high-altitude gemstone mining area located above 4000 meters in the Sumayar Valley of the Nagar District in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Geologically, the site is situated within the southern Karakoram Metamorphic Complex, where granitic pegmatites occur as dikes, lenses, and pods cutting through calc-silicate rocks and amphibolites. These pegmatites are genetically related to the neighboring Sumayar pluton, solidifying from volatile-rich residual melts highly enriched in beryllium, fluorine, and water. This specialized chemistry allowed the crystallization of a unique mineral suite, most notably ice-blue aquamarine, fluorite, fluorapatite, and quartz. Historically, the deposits remained unknown until 1984, when a local hunter named Muhammad Shah first discovered the gemstone pockets. Following this discovery, the remote alpine area developed into a seasonal, locally operated mining locality worked by hundreds of area residents, primarily between July and October when weather conditions allow access to the steep, extreme terrain.
