A lustrous and rich large-cabinet specimen of blue smithsonite from the world famous Kelly Mine in Socorro Co., New Mexico. Renowned for its blue smithsonites, the Kelly Mine is considered to be one of the finest localities for the species and a North American classic. This specimen features ideal color and luster – with amazing coverage atop matrix with some minor barite (very indicative for the locale). Very aesthetic and displayable from multiple angles. A real winner. Said to have been collected in the 1950’s, just before the mine closed to commercial production in 1957.
