Large and rich, this expansive specimen has a display side completely covered by 1.5 to 2 cm Wulfenite crystals, with the largest reaching 2.5 cm across! These crystals are sharp and well-formed, with good luster, classic beveled edges, and a deep, burnt-orange color. The cores are tinged with a slight brown hue possibly caused by fine matrix inclusions, and this provides high contrast with the translucent outer zones of the Wulfenites, especially when backlit. This excellent, cabinet-sized specimen is probably from the great 2007 finds at Jianshan, which was also the best ever for China for this species. Wulfenites are prized by collectors, as they are rare in good crystals, and finds of this magnitude tend to generate a lot of excitement. Justifiably so, when they have such color and impact as this. No more mining of these will be allowed due to location in the mountains of Xinjiang.
