Mimetite, one of Tsumeb's most notable species, is found at Tsumeb in several distinct, recognizable habits. Here, we have two intergrown, hexagonal crystals on matrix. The luster of the lemon-custard crystals is excellent, and this classic form is modified by very narrow, sharp bevels along the edges, which subtly add to the aesthetics without you even realizing it. The largest crystal is 1.4 cm, and the two nearly identical crystals intersect at the bottom, creating the appearance of a V-twin, but not. Sitting on just the right amount of matrix, this is a high-quality and aesthetic thumbnail for this great mine. From the well-known Tsumeb-specific thumbnail collection of Dick and Mary Nelson, built mostly from 1980-2010.
