A superb, glassy, transparent and gemmy Clinozoisite crystal in a matrix of snow-white Calcite from Alchuri, Pakistan. This handsome, 3.4 cm tall 1.8 cm wide Clinozoisite actually consists of one larger and one smaller crystal in tight, parallel growth. They have exceptional luster and transparency except toward the bottom where it is more translucent. The crystal is not repaired, although has a small fracture crack visible on close inspection at just above the base where it goes into the calcite. The crystals have barely perceptible striations parallel to their length that add a touch of character and detail. The crystals rise out of a translucent white base of coarse Calcite that shows rhombohedral cleavage and provides more contrast in texture as well as color. The base of the Calcite is sawn flat for display purposes. It is an aesthetic and well-balanced miniature! Ex. Paul Stahl collection - 28846.
