A very colorful and exceptional display-quality specimen of Pargasite in Calcite from the Ganish marbles in Pakistan. Pargasite is an uncommon member of the Amphibole Group, a sodium-calcium-magnesium aluminosilicate. Although color isn't diagnostic, Pargasite is often medium to dark lime-green in color; this one happens to be a saturated darker lime-green crystal. This single, lustrous, translucent to gemmy Pargasite crystal measures 1.7 cm tall and is partially encased in a white marble matrix at its base. There is even a smaller, 7 mm sidecar crystal sitting behind it. Both crystals are nicely terminated and are more of a medium lime-green at the top. The contrast is excellent and the Pargasites are centered well on the piece and very aesthetic. Ex. Paul Stahl collection - 28743.
