Everything about this Czech Cassiterite is wondrous. From the famous Horní Slavkov (Schlaggenwald) area, in Karlovy Vary Region, Bohemia, Czech Republic, this miniature-sized crystallized Cassiterite is super glossy, presents a rich black colour, but with brown internal reflections, and is completely free-from damage save for the lower edges where it was clearly removed from matrix. The main crystal is a stunning twin reaching 1.8 x 2.2 x 2.0 cm and perched perfectly for display on top of the Muscovite mica matrix. There are certainly larger crystals and larger twins known from Horní Slavkov, but this one is just magical. Ex Engelbrecht Collection, no. 2576, acquired by him in 1982.
