Dozens and dozens of sharp triangular crystals on a large display sized specimen make this an important old-timer from California's famous benitoite mine - the only source in the world for such "blue triangles" of this rare titanium species. This specimen is thought to date to the 1960s or prior, and was long ago obtained by the Larson family and in their collection. It resided in the collection of Carl Larson since he was young; and he is now a respected gemologist and gem dealer in his own right, but still had a few of his old specimens. While not all crystals are pristine, most are. The sharper crystals are 1-1.5 cm and the two larger crystals, although rough, exceed an inch in size. For such richness of crystals and color together, it is almost impossible to find large display specimens in this size, today.
