This was a surprise when we got to looking closely at it, and looked it up in the catalog for Kurt's collection when we acquired it: a matrix Moroccan cerussite! This crystal is twinned, sharp, lustrous...it is Tsumeb in quality! But, the matrix is decidedly Moroccan. At 3.75 x 3.75 x 2.5 cm in size, the reticulated twinned cluster of cerussite is perfectly perched and balanced atop the matrix. It is complete all around, and just mesmerizing up close. We love the quality of such twinning, but we are used to only seeing this from Tsumeb, and rarely on a contrasting matrix. Here, that means everything, as it gives a unique pedestal for the upright display of the cluster. It simply could not be arranged more beautifully if you wanted it to. This is from a period of the late 1960s to the early 1980s at latest. It is simply exquisite, unexpected, and beautiful.
