Tucson, Arizona, USAThis very richly crystallized European Wulfenite is from the famous Helena mining district in Črna na Koroškem, Slovenia. The glossy, almost resinous, superficially tabular crystals are actually made up of layers of pyramidal/bipyramidal crystals with their points extending outwards at 90 degrees to the tabular crystal surface, producing an effect like a meat tenderizer. Fascinating crystallographically, the colour and lustre of the crystals varies slightly too, giving the impression of some crystals being 'sandwiches'. These 'sandwiches' exceptionally reach 1.7 cm on edge. In overall very good condition too, this is a superb display Wulfenite from one of the older classic European localities. Ex Hettrich Collection with remnants of an old label present on its base.
