Cassiterite

Unknown Owner
This is an exceptional crystallized plate of Cassiterite perfect for display or handling. It is an older piece, coming from the famous Tazna mine in Potosí Department, Bolivia but is in absolutely superb condition, indeed the best I have seen. 95 % covered in extremely glossy, black wedge-shaped to somewhat pyramidal crystals, its thin layer of matrix is also Cassiterite, providing a satisfyingly dense feel. Many of the crystals are intergrown, but they all present excellent crystal form and even through a few have slight chipping to their tips, their glossy lustre means that these slight imperfections are almost invisible. Many reach 1 cm across which is a really good size. Ex Martin Kershaw Collection, no. 842.
