This particular piece features lamellar (platelike), silvery metallic crystals to 1.1 cm of Joséite-B, in Bismuth ore. We note that this has been worked on by John Dagenais and comes from his collection with his own label and previous publication as one of his "babies" in the MR. John was religious about his identification work and used the UBC labs in Vancouver when needed, personally doing much of his analytical work; or in collaboration with Dr. Rob Woodside. (Bismuth and Joséite from here could be confused, as the two are indistinguishable in hand; and can only be verified by quantitative analysis.) There is a single, 4 mm long x 1 mm piece of metallic yellow Native Gold at the lower end of the Joséite-B cluster of crystals. There are also several, 1 mm flecks of metallic lead-gray Molybdenite disseminated in the mottled Quartz-Feldspar-Carbonate-Amphibole matrix. Ex. John Dagenais collection. Illustrated (Michael Bainbridge photo) in his chapter of Mineral Collectors of the Northwest, Mineralogical Record (September 2019), page 47. He notes that it is from the previous collection of Ty Balacko; and that the minor gold-colored metallic substance is, indeed, Native Gold.
