Here is a truly unusual specimen from China! This well-trimmed matrix is an old specimen from the Bill Larson Beryl Collection, which he thought dates back to the early 2000s. It features a glassy, tabular, complex, near-colorless pale Aquamarine Beryl included with abundant sprays of translucent to opaque Schorl Tourmaline needles - a highly unusual combination of species! This comes from the tungsten-tin deposits of Mount Xuebaoding in China. We have never seen another as finely developed as this, in over 80 trips to China from 2005-2026; and never heard of another so sharp, either. The gemmy, glassy Beryl crystal measures 3 cm across with the acicular Schorl needles measuring a few millimeters to 1.7 cm in length. The included Beryl is aesthetically set on a white Albite matrix along with small, 3 to 6 mm, platy, silvery Muscovite crystals. A nicely composed miniature of high caliber and mesmerizing for the unusual combination of species.
