This is a remarkable form of Marcasite quite unlike anything I have seen before. A very long hollow tube is coated with classic golden metallic spear-shaped Marcasite crystals, but if you look carefully there is a pattern to them. They form 'lines' or sequences of stacked crystals following the line of the tube. In some respects the crystals give the effect of a feather, splaying out in unison either side. Marcasite has been known from Bou Nahas mine in the Oumjrane mining area, Morocco since 2012, but very few specimens of this peculiar crystal form are known. This one is exceptional and would make a fantastic talking point. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
