Broken Hill Coppers, at their best, are instantly recognizable for the unique extended crystal habits. These treasures came out only in old finds of the early years there, late 1800s through 1930s. An elegant Copper miniature consisting of relatively large, elongate Copper crystals from Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia. The elongate crystals, of which there are four larger and several much smaller ones, vary in size from 1 to 5 cm for the larger ones and average 2 mm for the smaller ones. The larger ones are very much elongated with sharp and distinct faces and the smaller crystals are most likely of a second generation and are more equant and complex. The long crystal resembles a latch hook with its two distinct, almost 45 degree, bends. The excellent patina adds nicely to the overall aesthetics of this piece, which is from one of the world's classic Copper localities. The specimen is certainly from the late 1800s or very early 1900s in which Paul Seel was already collecting as these came out. A full miniature (or technically a small cab if upright), this is a historic, recognizable classic Copper from an important locale.
