Here is an aesthetic, old-time St Andreasberg Pyrargyrite from ancient Germany. It is a large thumbnail ("toenail") of highly lustrous, metallic-gray Pyrargyrite crystals in an attractive group with a dominant aesthetic. The prominent crystals is a textbook, robust, slightly elongate prism with a perfect termination and it is accompanied by at least a dozen smaller, 2 mm to 1 cm crystals around the base in front. These are just as lustrous, but stubbier in form. The prism faces on all of the crystals are lustrous whereas all of the terminations are somewhat dull. For luster, form, rarity and aesthetics, this thumbnail is superb. It has super-sharp crystals and the surface is a dark red when strongly lit! This piece is definitely over 100 years old! It is most likely from the mid to late 1800s, and the Samson Mine.
