This fine, classy, Sphalerite crystal aggregate is an icon of the famous Elmwood mine in Tennessee, USA. Famed, for purple Fluorite, gemmy amber coloured scalenohedral Calcite crystals, and cream coloured nodules of Baryte, large glossy black Sphalerite crystals are known too, and make really excellent displays of this zinc-bearing ore mineral. Aesthetically perched upon a sliver of pale grey rock matrix, this small cabinet-sized display of Sphalerite crystals is in really fine condition. Ex Martin Kershaw Collection, this specimen likely dates to the 1980s, or earlier.
