This is an extremely rare specimen from the historic Copper Prince mine in the Bunker Hill Mining District, Pinal County, Arizona. This underground copper mine only reported output in 1937 after being initially prospected in 1907-1909 and specimens from there are just never seen available. This remarkable small cabinet sized, robust, branching dendritic Native Copper comes from renowned Arizonan collector and dealer Paul Matt, and is not only a rare specimen from this mine, but it an absolute cracker. With a classic, reddish-orange tarnished Native Copper surface appearance, possible due to slight natural oxidation to Cuprite, and small patches of green from minor surface alteration to Malachite or Brochantite, this has the feel of being a historic piece. The dendrites are made of pointed crystals of Native Copper, some sharp, but most fairly rounded, but this is a remarkable survivor from this smaller Arizona mine.
