Although there is slight damage to the tips, this cluster of Calcite crystals from the famous Schlema-Hartenstein District in Saxony, Germany is remarkably beautiful and stunningly complex crystallographically. Comprising three main crystals, these are not only sharp, eye-catching scalenohedra, but they are twinned, with the main crystal representing two perfectly alligned scalenohedral crystals offset very slightly and revealing a 'macle' where they joint with a 'V' shape in the centre. To add to their beauty, these very glossy Calcite crystals are included with reddish-brown presumed iron oxides, and speckled on their surface by sparse tiny golden Chalcopyrite crystals. The specimen is mounted for display on a small acryllic base. Ex Hans Engelbrecht Collection, no. 6500, acquired by him in 2009..
