Nifontovite is a rare calcium-borate hydrate from Charcas, Mexico that has produced the best-of-species from pockets that eclipsed all previous finds of the mineral from finds in 2009 and 2023. This excellent thumbnail from Paul Stahl's rares collection is from the 2009 find. It is an outstanding, lustrous, perfectly transparent, colorless trio of prismatic crystals in tight parallel growth with perfect, complex terminations. They emanate from a small piece of matrix at the bottom that is much nicer than the loose, single crystals with no context. An exceptional thumbnail for the species and it is complete all around. Ex. Paul Stahl collection. A superb, competitive-class thumbnail example of this species!
