A superb loose grouping of lustrous beautiful caramel colored wulfenite crystals with very little attached matrix. In super condition, this is an outstanding miniature for this Mexican classic.Los Lamentos in Chihuahua, Mexico, is a historic mining district that was worked for lead, zinc, and silver beginning in the 19th century. The area is well known among mineral collectors for the oxidized zones of its lead ore deposits, which produced a variety of secondary minerals. Los Lamentos is especially famous for wulfenite, a lead molybdate mineral that formed as thin tabular crystals in cavities within the oxidized ore. The crystals are typically bright orange to red orange in color and are considered classic examples of the species from Mexico.
