In terms of all-round quality and size for display, there cannot be many better Calcite from Tsumeb mine than this stunning specimen from the Weyand Collection in Tsumeb. Dramatic in form, it has a small area of red and green matrix from which aggregates of large rhombic crystals fan off, almost like wings. The Calcite crystals are in exceptional, damage-free condition, with wonderful stepped faces and insanely glassy surfaces. Many present reddish inclusions of iron oxides (Hematite) which adds significantly to its classy appearance.
