This fine small cabinet-sized aggregate of sharp rhombic Calcite crystals shows its affiliation to the world-famous Tsumeb mine in Namibia by its association with green Duftite underneath. Tsumeb mine is so well-known for rare and exotic mineral species that its wonderful Calcite is sometimes forgotten. Sharp, rhombic Calcite crystals to 1.8 cm on edge almost entirely cover the dome-like display surface of this specimen, with just a tiny area of the underlying green Duftite peeking through, but where they do they are magnificent under magnification, forming colour zoned perfect orthorhombic wedge-shaped crystals to 1.5 mm across. There is some light chipping to a few of the edges of the Calcite crystals but it is in overall very good condition, and the Duftite is exceptional, even by Tsumeb standards. Ex Hettrich Collection.
