Calcite is one of the forgotten fine species from Tsumeb mine, but as this magnificent cabinet demonstrates, when it is good, it is superb. Not only are the crystals presented here sharp and perfect rhombs, but they have an alluring pale pink hue and slightly pearlescent lustre. Sat as they are, upon a layer of contrasting botryoidal cream coloured Dolomite, makes for a rather fetching display. Individually, they reach up to 1.5 cm on edge and there are no obvious signs of damage. Ex Hettrich Collection.
