Wire transfers available, to set up
At up to 11.8 cm in length these sharp, tapering, glossy Aragonite crystals are not the largest that were found at this famous locality during the 1970s and 1980s, but the way multiple 11 cm-plus crystal are gracefully intergrown produces a phenomenal display worthy of any museum-quality collection. Now regarded as having produced the world's finest examples of this type of Aragonite crystal habit, the Podrečany occurrence in a Magnesite deposit worked opencast and underground is long since flooded. The longest crystal on this piece is, unfortunately missing its tip (although it is not instantly apparent), but most of the other larger crystals are in perfect condition. These crystal all rise from a very thin, powdery, cream coloured base which is a small residual matrix. A cluster of naturally un-terminated crystals at one end of the specimen contain orange and brown inclusions from where they have grown around a rusty limonitic matrix. All of the Aragonite crystals show a fine, glossy, to slightly resinous lustre of the finest kind seen from this amazing site.
