This peculiar form of Calcite is classic Cínovec/Zinnwald, straddling the border between the Erzgebirge mountains in Saxony and the Krusné Hory mountains in Bohemia. Like pseudohexagonal columns, the stacked, and stepped colour-zoned pale cream to wine-coloured crystals are so distinctive but are probably not to everyone's taste. This larger, cabinet-sized display specimen is one of the largest and most presentable specimens of this habit of Calcite that I have seen and covered all around apart from its narrow base. There are one or two slight abrasions, but for its size it is in very fine condition and is festooned with complex stacks of crystals. Ex Hans Engelbrecht Collection.
