Cassiterite on Quartz$9,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
Despite being one of the major historic tin-mining regions of Europe and being renowned for exceptional Cassiterite crystals, Krásno at Horní Slavkov (Schlaggenwald) in the Karlovy Vary Region, Bohemia, Czech Republic, is not well-known for crystals on matrix . Aesthetic specimens are even rarer. That is what sets this wonderful small cabinet specimen apart, elevating it to the top level of worldwide crystallized Cassiterite display specimens. It sits as a linear bed of somewhat glassy small prismatic Quartz crystals upon which either end presents a cluster of extremely glossy black Cassiterite crystals, all of which are extremely well-formed, flower-like cyclic-twinned crystals, and generally free from damage except for one chip to a corner on the larger group. The largest grouping reaches 3 cm across, and the other 1.5 cm. Ex Hans Engelbrecht Collection, no. 2151, acquired by him in 1979. The specimen is mounted to an acryllic display block but can easily be removed if required.
