The ArkenstoneFeatured
Roweite is a rare calcium-manganese borate with hydroxyl. This specimen features a couple of excellent, rectangular-shaped, rosette-like aggregates of slightly translucent, rich tan-colored roweite crystals associated with white calcite and minor olshanskyite on matrix. The two, lamellare roweite rosettes measure 3.7 and 2.5 cm across, respectively, and are some of the best in this size class we've seen. A large, 2 cm rhomb of translucent white calcite sits adjacent to the roweite and is in nice contrast with it. There are also a few, white, slender prismatic, 1 cm olshanskyites peaking out from underneath the roweite. Roweite came out of a few small pockets in one area of the Shijiangshan Mine in 2017 and the specimens were absorbed by the market. They are the absolute world's best of species compared to previous known examples of this species. This elegant miniature is one of the best I have seen and also has rather large crystals with good presentation and balance! These are true treasures that were almost missed in the haste of mining here for "fancier" minerals. Found once, and never again in this quality.
