This is a razor sharp, fine monazite-(Ce) crystal on matrix from the historic locale of Iveland, Norway. This large, complete, tapered and terminated, caramel colored crystal of monazite-(Ce) measures 6.7 cm in length and is associated with orthoclase and muscovite. These crystals form frozen in the pegmatite host rock and very few are recovered intact like this. The crystal is well formed with sharp edges and is complete with well-developed faces and a termination accepting it is repaired back on to the matrix at the bottom. This monazite-(Ce) crystal measures 6.7 cm long and has a pleasing caramel color and contrasts well with the tan colored, subhedral orthoclase and the silvery books of muscovite. Historic and important. This piece from Paul Stahl's collection was displayed at the Munich Show and has a label from the exhibit that accompanies it.
