An attractive almost gemmy lustrous rhombohedral green crystal of calcite 4.0 cm across set aesthetically up on matrix. Quartz and dolomite are present as well. In great condition. Unusual color makes this especially nice. Complete all around.The Shuikoushan Mine in Hunan Province, China is a major polymetallic mining district known for the production of lead, zinc, and other metals. Mining in the area began in the early 20th century and expanded under modern industrial development. The ore deposits occur mainly as hydrothermal replacement bodies and veins hosted in carbonate rocks. The district is also known among collectors for mineral specimens such as calcite, fluorite, and various sulfide minerals from its large mining operations.
