World-famous for its superb grossular garnets and vesuvianite crystal specimens, the now-closed Jeffrey Mine in Canada was once one of the largest asbestos producers in North America. The rarest and most desirable of the vesuvianites are the magenta crystals that were found in just a few pockets over the decades of mining here (last big find was in the 1980s; and this is a style from that era!). Colored by manganese, these lustrous crystals have their highest color density near the complex terminations, which gives the candy-like appearance of the cluster even more visual appeal. To make things even better, the largest crystal is 1.6 cm and doubly-terminated, and most of the crystals have a pure-orange fluorescence. This rich cluster is a first-class small-miniature with excellent aesthetics. Unique in the world, this combination of geometry and purple color is immediately recognizable.
