Dioptase on calcite is one of the legendary Tsumeb Mine's signature combinations, and this fine, attractive miniature demonstrates the unique aura of these species in combination. The gemmy dioptase crystals are classic with their sharp, easily-recognizable form, deep color, and high luster. They reach up to 9 mm and they stand out well on a sugary matrix of fine calcite crystals. In fact, the calcites are two well-blended generations of crystals as some rhombs also decorate the dioptase crystals, which is quite unusual for here. On close look, you can see how there are several generations of calcite growth, some draping the dioptase which came later and yet somehow did not mar the luster or sharpness of the dioptase on which they formed. All pristine save only one single broken point. This aesthetic piece makes an excellent, sparkling example of this Tsumeb stalwart.
