The Wessels manganese mine at Hotazel in the Kalahari Mn. Field, N. Cape Province, South Africa is renowned for some of the best display quality crystallized Xonotlite in the world. This is not only because of the scale of specimens, but for the sheer quality of the crystallized masses too. This very showy cabinet-sized display specimen not only presents the classic disc-like silky radial cross-sections that are seen at a few other world occurrences, but these are alongside excellent 'puff-ball' like botryoidal rounded terminated sprays of delicate acicular crystals. Large and showy, this is a really high quality Xonotlite, from arguably the world's greatest occurrence. Ex Hettrich Collection.
