Tucson, Arizona, USAEl Horcajo mine is one of the all-time classic Spanish mineral localities, with magnificent rich crystallized aggregates of lime-green Pyromorphite recovered from the late 1890s through until the 1920s. In colour, these look similar to a few other famous world occurrences, including the classic material from Roughton Gill in the Caldbeck Fells, England, but in form they are very much different. Indeed, the extremely delicate, filament-like acicular crystals from El Horcajo mine are quite unlike any other Pyromorphite I have seen, and I have seen alot. This large display specimen is undoubtedly over a century old, and pieces of this quality are simply not seen outside of just a few major international museums. It is remarkably intact, and naturally displays in all directions. An absolute Spanish mineralogical wonder, and weighs in at an impressive 612 g.
