Calcite with Fluorite

Unknown Owner
A striking specimen featuring lustrous, gemmy amber colored calcite crystals to 6.0 cm, elegantly perched on a crystallized fluorite matrix. The calcite displays sharp terminations, warm rich color, and excellent transparency, contrasting beautifully with the pale, geometric fluorite beneath to create a visually captivating composition. Preserved in good condition, the piece comes with a previous data card, as shown at the end of the video, dating to the early 1990s, providing provenance and collector interest. The Denton Mine, located in southern Illinois, is part of the historic Fluorspar District, which became known in the mid to late 20th century for producing fine calcite and fluorite specimens. Specimens from Denton are prized for their combination of crystallographic quality, rich color, and classic Midwestern mineral character, making this an exceptional example for both display and collection.
