“Kiwi” calcite (vanadium-rich), 12 cm, from Garfield County, Utah; collected with Erin Delventhal. These calcites made a huge splash at the 2019 Denver show, and made enduring the sweltering June heat and biting gnats a distant memory. After three days of exploration with few results, we walked to an outcrop and found these calcites just sitting on the ground exposed to the elements. This specimen was recently featured on the cover of the German periodical Lapis. Terry Huizing collection; Jeff Scovil photo.
