The largest surviving gold nugget from British Columbia, the 1,642-gram (52 troy-ounce) Turnagain Nugget, found on a creek in northern B.C. in 1937. The B.C. Department of Mines purchased it for $1,500, to exhibit at the 1939 World’s Fair. Now at the Royal British Columbia Museum, Victoria. Photo by John Masters.
