Copper and calcite, 10.1 cm, from the Quincy mine, Hancock, Houghton County, Michigan. The Quincy mine operated for 97 years (1848–1945), and was named for Quincy, Massachusetts, the home town of some of the investors. Mined to a depth of more than a mile, it produced 424,000 tons of native copper. Specimens of calcite with included copper were highly prized by collectors.
