Fluorite partially replacing Calcite
These beautiful fluorite specimens came out in several batches, starting in the early 1970s, and each find was a little different in style and color; and in the amount of replacement of calcite by fluorite. We expect that this is from the 1980s. The fluorite has the shape of calcite "dogtooth crystals" because it is a cast here atop of calcite. In this specimen, the fluorite is caught in the act of replacement, whereas others may be fully replaced and changed to fluorite. This is just a pretty dusting and cast of fluorite atop, the earliest stage of a partial replacement leading to a full pseudomorph. It is sparkling and pretty, and a very large example of this style.
