An extremely sharp and rather large, equant copper crystal sits perfectly perched in a sparing calcite matrix in this gorgeous large miniature copper specimen from the classic Michigan copper district. It comes from the private collection of longtime dealer Keith Williams. Copper crystals of this sharpness, perfection, and balance are rare enough - but if you think about it, they usually are seen as singles or amidst clusters on massive copper. This is ISOLATED, not in a mass of ore or ugly secondary copper growth - and that makes all the difference in terms of aesthetics, levels, and values. This is a highly specialized piece, for the connoisseur copper collector who would appreciate such rarity in presentation. Of course, without great crystal shape, we also could not value it. The final subtely here is the patina: this has a fine and consistent patina of tenorite atop, which is sometimes either uneven or been previously stripped to clean the copper and make it too bright.
