For a mining area that is not renowned for colourful, showy specimens, this large miniature specimen of duck-egg blue Smithsonite from Silver Hill in the Silver Hill Mining District, Pima County, Arizona is a very pleasant surprise. Forming slightly distorted botryoidal masses, the pale blue Smithsonite appears to partially overgrow a thin layer of earlier white Smithsonite. A really attractively coloured specimen from Silver Hill.
