This is an extremely refined gold specimen of competitive quality for a miniature size class. It features a large crystal mounted as if on a pedestal atop a mass of crudely crystallized gold; and this main crystal is approximately 1.3 cm across. It shows cubic faces atop - a highly unusual formation in gold. This crystal is complete all around, with hoppered faces on the sides as well. Every side is interesting. From the old collection of a gold collector well known in the mineral trade in California, by his first name Jahfrey; and who often shows up at shows with a little bag of fine specimens sourced from old California collections. As a final point, such large and refined individual gold crystals are rare from ANY locale, especially so from California. The mass is 56.06 grams (nearly 2 ounces just by weight).
