Native Gold in Quartz
Unknown Owner
This Native Gold from Romania doesn't come from the more famous classic sites at Roşia Montană or Sacarîmb, but is from Sofie Gang in Barza Gold Mine at Crișcior, Hunedoara County. It might only be toe-nail in size, but it is extremely rich in Native Gold metal and this is also very well crystallized too with an extremely bright metallic lustre and rich golden-yellow colour. The whole specimen weighs in at 8 grams of which a good proportion must be from the Native Gold which shoots out from its massive white vein Quartz matrix in several directions. Ex Kessler Collection.
