Calcite var. "Kiwi Calcite" on petrified wood$2,400.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
An aesthetic small cabinet specimen of translucent, bright pastel-green calcite scalenohedrons set nicely on a contrasting dark brown matrix from this very uncommon, yet much sought after calcite occurrence in Circle Cliffs, Utah. Several dozen, randomly oriented, satin lustered, translucent, 0.5 to 1 cm "dog-tooth" calcite crystals line the recessed area of this attractive piece. Crystals in the protected area inside the vug are in excellent condition those around the periphery show contacting. It is reported that the green color of the calcite is known to be due to trace amounts of vanadium. The contrast of the brightly colored crystals with the brownish matrix makes for great contrast. Specimens from here are almost impossible to obtain these days and this is an old specimen from this one-time find of the early 2010s. The miners who took it out claim to have recovered only about 300 pieces, of which this would rank in the better portion for both richness and quality. We have not seen any for sale in a long time.
