This is a cute and colorful Red Cloud Mine miniature adorned with a single, lustrous, relatively large, tabular, rich orange wulfenite crystal. from the famed Red Cloud Mine in Arizona, still acclaimed by may collectors as the best locality in the world for the species. The one, prominent translucent to somewhat gemmy, bright orange-red wulfenite stands out conspicuously on the piece to show off it's sharp form with its beveled edges and vivid color! It is thick and beautiful, and measures 1.6 x 1.6 x 4 mm in size. There are a few other, small, millimeter-size wulfenites on the piece, mostly covered in drusy calcite. The colorless calcite druse covers most of the piece and provides a great backdrop for the big wulfenite. This is a well-balanced and attractive miniature from this famous locale. The association and style with the calcite show that it is from the calcite pocket in the Red Gem Pocket finds of 2003, the last major mining effort at this old location. The name denotes the high luster of these pieces, with glassy surfaces.
