Creedite, a rare halide mineral, is a calcium aluminium sulphate hydroxide fluoride hydrate that forms as a secondary mineral in fluorine-rich geochemical environments. Of the few known instances where it is well-crystallized each often presents a different colour, or overall habit distinctive to that deposit. Navidad mine (which translates as Christmas mine) at Mun. de Rodeo, Durango, Mexico is one of the first important localities for excellent crystals and these often show a distinctive orange colour and radiating 'star-burst' form where they have grown enclosed in clay. This excellent small cabinet specimen comes from Martin Kershaw's collection and almost certainly came from the important finds between 2005 and 2011. Not only does it present a great colour, but is really well-crystallized and in fine condition too.
