Cassiterite
For Cassiterite enthusiasts this unusual slickensided Cassiterite comes from Wheal Friendly (part of the West Wheal Kitty group) at St Agnes, Cornwall, but it is the large old dealer label affixed to it that provides the real interest. This specimen was supplied by William Peters (1830-1913), a Redruth-based mineral dealer who outlived nearly all of his contemporary Cornish dealers. This particular label can be dated by his address to between 1886 and 1905. Wheal Friendly is known to have produced tin ore between 1823 and 1895. Ex Bruce Grant Collection, no. 1521.
