Cassiterite
Dolcoath mine, near Camborne holds legendary status as one of the most valuable and longest-lived mines in Cornwall. As you will see, this is not the most well-crystallized Cornish Cassterite that you will come across, but it is very dense and rich in Cassiterite, but its significance comes from the old handwritten label attached to it. It is from the famous collection of Col. Sir William Serjeant (1857-1930) who lived at St. Benet's Abbey, Lanivet, and whose octagonal blue-rimmed handwritten labels are a must for collectors of historic collection pieces. Ex Bruce Grant Collection, no. 1888.
